Being sold is an Antique Office , Dresser , Desk , Sewing Box , I really don't know what it is . It is approximately 9 1/4" in diameter X 3" high . It is very heavy , silver plated , cast copper mounted on a wood base . It has 3 drawers approximately 4 5/16" X 3 1/8" X 1" . The sides have very deeply cast Celtic designs and t are also three shields on the sides and around the recess in the top . The first shield has a standing Lion , the second has three lions in a row and the third shield has a Harp with a female body . Between the shields , on top , are three large words I really don't understand . They may be Gaelic or old English or something like that . Around the center , of the top , are 9 deeply cast scenes . They appear to picture : A Miner , A Farmer , A Sheepherder , A Man at a Loom , A Writer , a Potter , A Scholar , A Seamstress and a Man moving Cotton Bales . Between every third picture is a Caduses . A cast ribbon runs all around the bottom with names on it . The names are : Arkwright , Boettger , Boyle , Caxton , Cariwright , Cellini , Crompton , Davy , Durer, Flaxman , Holbein , Gutenberg , Hargreave , Jaccuard , Newton , Palissy , Peel , Raphael , Stanhope , Watt and Wedgwood . I don't recognize all the names but the ones I do are great inventors , artists and thinkers of the past . On the very edge , in small print , it says " PUBLISHED AS THE ACT DIRECTS BY HENRY ELKINGTON FEB 20 1851 ". I'm assuming that means that this was made by Henry Elkington in 1851 . This was rescued from a scrapyard . The consignor took some scrap to a scrapyard and while he was t he saw one of the employees pulling this apart . He knew this was something so he talked the scrap dealer into selling it to him instead of melting it down . All of a sudden it became very valuable to the scrap dealer and the consignor paid it . T are 3 panel making up the side . One of them has a 3/4" tear w the scrap dealer pinched it with sidecutters to see if it was copper . Two of the drawers have the tiny acorn shaped button pulls missing . The side panels need to be resoldered to the top and bottom rings . The top has to be renailed to the wood frame with 5 tiny nails . Other than that it is in very good condition and would not be difficult to restore . NOTE : This is one of the few times I am using a reserve . The consignor paid to rescue this from the melting pot and would at least like to get his money back . He thought it is a fantastic piece that should be saved and I think so to . I will tell you that the reserve is $75.00 which I think is a very small percentage of its real value . Please don't email for a buy it now , as I have a contract with the consignor to put it on ebay for seven days and it sells to the high bidder .
Everything is sold without reserve . We try to take good photos and give honest descriptions but since we sell on consignment for others we are no experts. If we omit any detail or you have a question please ask . Because we have been scammed a couple of times , everything is sold as is ,no refunds , no returns . Insurance is mandatory , we will not ship anything without insurance. Please use shipping calculator to figure shipping charge . We accept Money Orders , Personal Checks and Paypal . If you cannot agree to these terms please don't bid. I'm sorry we have to do this but we must . Hopefully the honest people understand and the dishonest ones won't bid. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS : I will not mark the Customs Form as GIFT , it is illegal . I cannot possibly know the laws of every country , please check on your end to see if t are any duties or fees before bidding .
