Ciao Ebayers, we are back this week with a spectacular Group of Italian Religious Artifacts. We have collected these pieces for you from every region of Italy as we continue criss-crossing the Country looking for special Vintage and Antique items for your Collections. This week we have from the 1800's an Extraordinary Ornate Cherub Monstrance, an Gorgeous Tulip Chalice with a Paten and Carry Case, a stunning Framed Painted Porcelain of the Blessed Mother, a wonderful "Gondola" Incense Holder, an elaborate Ex-Voto for a newborn Baby with the Madonna and Child, a second Tulip Chalice of Silver and Gilt, and two wonderful Antique Silver Devotional Pieces. IN THIS AUCTION we are offering a RARE Antique Silver Italian "Pax" Devotional plaque. The lovely tulip cup chalice is classic in form, but has an unusual "all seeing eye" icon on the base. The tooling is wonderful. Glorious Radiating Rays of Light sprout from the cup of the Chalice and surround the initials IHS. The plaque is in excellent condition save for a slight discoloration above the "I" and the "H" in the IHS insignia. From our Research in the book "Thesaurus - Religious Objects of the Catholic Faith" we found that these small metal plaques are kissed by the members of the congregation - and/or the celebrant - to convey the kiss of peace. As with many of these kinds of plaques, a handle has been fashioned on the back. This plaque measures 7 inches (17.5 cm) tall and 3 ½ inches (8.5 cm) wide.
