We have a very unusual mourning brooch listed today. It appears to be sterling silver, however it is unmarked. Under the glass there is an old photograph of a horse and two different colors of hair. The hair strands are very thick so I am assuming they are from the horse in the photo. I ran my finger over the beading and flowers on the front of the brooch and it began to shine instantly but I did not want to alter the patina of the brooch. You may choose to leave the patina as is or bring it back to it's former glory with a little polish. The brooch has the very old style T bar pin and a simple C clasp. This would make a great gift for a Horse lover or Victorian Mourning Jewelry Collector. There may be some minor dings to the dome shape on the front side but it is hard to tell without polishing.
