Up for auction is a beautiful pipe that has been hand crafted and has a straight grain. This rare piece is unlike any other and will make a perfect addition to any collection. This pipe features a regular tobacco chamber with a depth of 1 1/2", and a diameter of 1". The entire bowl measures 2 1/4" tall (Including the plastic cap). The length measures 1 1/2" from the heel to the shank, and the width is 1 3/8", while the shank measures 1/4". The Stem measures 5" when using a cloth tape to include the curve. Thus, this has a total length of 4" and a height of 6 1/2".As for the make and age of this piece, I haven't a clue. I did have this examined by a local pipe expert and he believes it to be from Europe. T is also a cap on the bottom that twists off and is "supposed" to be attached to a bowl filled with water, thus creating a hookah. The wood grain is in excellent alignment and t is a band around the shank that seems to be made of silver. He also believed that this was coin silver. Another great feature is the stem, which is made from some form of animal horn. This piece displays a great deal of age simply due to its style and the length of time it was kept in a private collection. This pipe is used and has some signs of wear. T are teeth marks in the bit region, and some cracking in the wood beneath the plastic screw cap. Otherwise, read more
