i000000 FINE ANTIQUE SILVER PITIADO MEXICAN REVOLUTION SOMBRERO Description: Antique Fine quality, very fancy Mexican Charro sombrero with a double silver pitiado Crowned hat band, and fancy silver pitiado decoration on both the top and bottom of the brims. This sombrero dates from around the Mexican Revolution period to about 1920 or so.This measures 22" measuring the curve from front to the back of the sombrero, and 21" side to side. This sombrero is made of high quality off white colored heavy felt that is about 1/8" thick. The high crowned fancy hat band border is made of multiple strands of silver pitiado; i.e. thin silver wire that is hand wrapped around thin strands of string. Then these thin silver strands are hand wrapped around a thin cotton cord. Then, multiple strands of these silver encrusted strings are twist braided into a rope pattern of about 1/8" in diameter. The 3 1/2" tall double crowned hat band is extremely fancy and delicately hand made. Both front and back crowns have a hand stitched embroidered horseshoe center design with a flower motif inside. There are 2 smaller horseshoe designs to both sides, connected with a finely embroidered vine and leaf pattern in silver pitiado thread and a vine & leaf top border embroidery.
