A superb mid-Victorian silver plated spoon warmer with a rare, exceptionally realistic design of a scallop shell amongst mussels, clams and cockles on a rocky base. This spoon warmer is of top quality electroplated on hard metal manufacture (NOT soft metal or Britannia metal) and bears a kite registration mark to the underside dating it to October 1876 and maker's mark of a bull's head (or possibly an ox) It is in superb antique condition, without damage, and has the bonus of having retained most of its original plating. It is certainly the most detailed and most unusual spoon warmer I've ever had. It weighs over 1 Kg and is a wonderful piece for display or for a collection. A difficult one to photograph so will be even more stunning in the flesh.... Also could do with more thorough cleaning. Length 14cm (5 1/2") Width 12cm (4 6/8") Height 10.8cm (4 2/8") (Use the recently introduced drop down arrow on right hand side of the line of pictures to view all the photos, when applicable.)
