This is a very nice 3-draw monocular made by the Austrian firm of "Plossl in Wien" so marked in script on the smallest draw. The monocular measures approximately 5" extended and 2.25" retracted. Simone Georg Plossl worked out of Vienna between the years 1794-1868. Most monoculars you encounter are French or English in origin; this one is fairly uncommon given its Austrian origin. The lenses are clear and when adjusted properly, delivers a fine image. The sliver plate draws show much of their original patina. The base barrel is comprised of a bone-like material which has a number of hairline stress cracks (see last three images). You will also notice that some of this material which once covered the top part of this base is missing (very thin in this region). All in all an excellent antique instrument. Buyer pays shipping and required insurance ($10.00 in continental USA and $45.00 international). I do not ship to China.
