This silver plated brass crochet or tambour hook was bought in Stockholm, Sweden, and it has the typical engravings on the handle you might know from Swedish thimbles. This bulb shaped handle is smooth with delicate hand engraved scrolls. The end of the handle has an ornate knob which can be unscrewed for the storage of hooks; t are two extra ones left. The hook at the top can be fastened by turning the nozzle. The size of this crochet hook, including the hook, is 5 3/8" long, 7/16" wide. The overall condition is very good: it is in perfect working order. T is one shallow dent and part of the plating has vanished, but the item is still very shiny. My last picture shows the tambour hook offered her on a picture of a variety of tambour and crochet hooks in the Swedish book about needlework tools by Barbara D. Gullers, Bilder och berättelser om sömnadsredskap , translated Antique sewing tools and tales , page 29. Four of the hooks depicted t are similar to the crochet hook I am offering for auction. If you specialize in crochet hooks or in needles you might be interested in other items I have listed today: only hooks, needles and a needlework tool set including knitting needle guards.
