Up for auction is a pyrography round disk w the wood was burned and etched to make the SEAL of SIMMONS COLLEGE, BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS. This is a much more beautiful piece in person than my photography depicts. The center has a tree with many small leaves. Behind the tree are the sun's rays. To the left t is a "Genie's Lamp". To the right, "FOUNDED 1899". Along the bottom of the middle circle are three flags. They read: SCIENCE, ART, and INDUSTRY. The next circle reads: SEAL OF SIMMONS COLLEGE along the top part, and BOSTON, MASSACHUVETTS. The "V" was used as a "U" during that period (early 20th century) in documents, diplomas, insignias, seals, etc. as a formal way of printing so it is not a misspelling. The third and last ring has wavy lines. This piece measures 10" across, and is 1/2" thick. The piece is constructed with three separate disks put together. They have separated in a few places, but some glue would easily take care of that. At the top t is a crack in the wood w it appears that a nail was hammered in. It is hardly noticeable. This is a unique gift for a Simmons College alumni or student. S&H includes a Delivery Confirmation. S&H is $6.25 (Domestic) and includes a Delivery Confirmation.
