We have for your viewing and bidding pleasure an antique brass and metal kerosene (coal oil)lantern. It is rather unusual due to the fact that the smoke cap is brass as is the font.On the top part of the font on one side in embossed lettering it has the name SIMMONS LIBERTY (this makes it even more unusual as SIMMONS HARDWARE COMPANY is the maker of KEEN KUTTER).On the other side at the top of the font it has S. H. CO. U.S.A. (the S. H. Co. stands for SIMONS HARDWARE COMPANY).The lantern has a good burner with a wick. The wick turns up and down.It has a good glass globe which is not cracked or broken.T is just some very light chipping on the inside edge of the top and at the bottom of the globe t is some chipping. All this chipping areas on the bottom and top of the globe is covered when it is inserted into the metal wire cage of the lantern. It has a round wire heavy metal bail handle for carrying or hanging. On the top of the brass smoke cap it has a round metal loop. The smoke cap has denting and t are a few dents on the bottom of the font.It appears that awhile back someone may have painted the metal frame on the lantern a satin black. From the bottom of the font to the top of the smoke cap it is 14".It measures about 19 7/8" to the top of the handle straight up.The lantern is 6 3/4" across the bottom of the font. The font has a small dent just under the LIBERTY name.We are listing this highly collectible attractive lantern at a no reserve selling price. So,thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
