Being offered is a very nice large antique Native American Plains Sioux Indian pipe or tobacco bag from the late 1880's to 1890's. The buckskin is still fairly soft and supple, with a few tears and native repair to the top part of the bag (zoom in for close-ups of condition). There are round holes on each side of the top part of the bag where buckskin thongs or ties once existed. There are a couple of spots where some rows of lazy stitch beadwork are missing (see close-up photos). This bag is entirely sinew sewn, and I see no evidence or danger of beads coming off. This bag is being offered in "as found" condition. The quilled slats and fringe are original to the bag. The fringe is still soft and supple. The quilled slats were dyed red, yellow, and blue and are faded on one side more than the other (see close-up photos). The bag measures 39 inches long x 8 inches wide. This bag is all original and not in perfect condition, but would still display beautifully. This all original Sioux Indian beaded and quilled bag would be a nice addition to any Plains Indian beadwork or artifact collection. Please ask any questions before bidding. PayPal payment is due within three days of receipt of invoice.
