This is an antique pair of clear, round-shaped lens spectacles. They have sliding temples that can be retracted to make the entire frame shorter. Sliding temple eyeglasses were hand made until the invention of the spectacle making machine in 1833 (see ). This pair is thought to have been used for military purposes but I don't know for sure. They are in very good condition for their age----no problems with adusting the length or folding the glasses after use. T are some minor scratches on the lens (no cracks) and one leg doesn't sit flat on a surface. T's a marking inside but it's difficult to read---looks like Stei. I haven't attempted to clean these---they are as I bought them. I'm not sure what metal the frames are made of. The above website stated these type eyeglasses were made in steel, silver, coin silver and gold. No case available. This item is sold as is. Please email with any questions you may have. I'm also listing another pair of eyeglasses similar to these with tinted lenses. Thank you and good luck.
