Up for auction are two cute and some what scarce little antique detachable handled Sad Irons, circa 1880 - 1900. These both have wooden handles whereas some had a synthetic material. Prior to eBay these would occasionally be seen in antique malls and always priced around $100. You don't normally see one of these old little irons for sale in this good of condition, let alone two (they show less then normal wear, are pretty clean, and have very little corrosion). These are among the most collectable of the small sad irons and would make great additions to any collection. While I used "Childs" in the title many people believe these small irons were used for collars and tight areas where the bulky big irons would prove clumsy to use. The red ruler is only 6" L. not including the sharpener. While these are little they are heavy and cost a little more to ship, but you're still saving by getting two at the same time. Following are their descriptions: The smallest is just 3 1/2" L X 2 3/4" H. It has no markings I can see, which for some reason is typical for these. The handle release hatch works well although you have to be a little careful you don't when picking it up too quickly. The wood handle and release knob don't have any chips or cracks (many times the little knobs do). The larger of the two is only 4 3/4" L X 3 1/2" H. It also read more
