Antique Pocket Watch Wow! This auction is for one of several great antique and vintage watches I have listed this week. This particular piece is an extremely high quality Swiss pocket watch. The watch case is made of SOLID yellow gold and it has a great engraved bird design on the back cover. The inside of the cover isn't marked in terms of gold quality, but I can see that someone scratched out the gold markings on the inside (not sure why). It is indeed guaranteed solid gold – probably 14K. It has the original Roman Numeral porcelain dial but is missing ALL the hands (the one in the photos fell off and was lost by me). The watch actually works excellent BUT the stem will not engage the mainspring gears so it will not wind up – instead it just keeps adjusting the time. I'm not sure if I am just doing it wrong or if the button is stuck on the edge (used to switch to winding the main spring or adjusting the time). The watch dates to around the 1870s-1880s and it is in great cosmetic condition but needs a crystal. The second door on the back says it has 10 jewels (which is actually pretty high for this type of movement) and that door is marked METAL, so it is not gold – everything else is though. Just a great timepiece and guaranteed as described. Measures about 1-1/8" wide and t is a considerable amount of gold ! Bidder pays $3.50 read more
