Here for auction is a stunning solid silver vesta case by the silversmith William Henry Sparrow and from the Birmingham Assay office. This vesta case is an absolute cracker and has exquisite tooling decoration on each side. The cartouche is initialled either HF or HI. The vesta is fully hallmarked WHS. an anchor, lion and date letter n for 1912. The inside of the lid also carries two hallmarks, the lion and date letter n. This case weighs approx 25 grams in weight, little ring also still present, quite often these are missing and then filed down. Good resistance to lid when opening and closes with a resounding 'SNAP' all exactly as it was the day it was made. Base striker is clean, hallmarks are clear bright cut decoration is crisp. From a collectors view point you could wish for no better. I would however just like to point out that there is one very, very tiny ding toe the top of lid, this really is nothing to worry about, but just thought I’d mention it. It would also polish up extremely well, but looks fine as it is. Measures 46mm high x 35mm wide not including hoop. A stunning example and highly collectable.
