MLN 420 / Antique Tiger Oak Arts & Crafts Nightstand, Table ~ 's another gorgeous example of classic arts & crafts: it's a solid oak table, perfect for use as nightstand, end table, lamp table, and it's constructed of magnificent big flake quarter-sawn oak so luscious we could eat it right up. Beautiful wood like this is increasingly more difficult to find. Look at the 2d & 3d photos from bottom and enlarge them to get a complete view of this buttery huge flake oak. It's amazing. And to think all of that resides inside of a grand oak tree. Probably not any oak tree, we figure this one was a whopper to have such enormous golden wagers in the midst of the straight grain. This kind of oak was prized by the makers of arts & crafts furniture from about 1905 to 1920 or so. Beautiful furniture with simple lines like this one would find their sole ornamentation in the grain of the wood. And how lovely it is, this being an exceptional example of that combination of simplicity and fabulous natural wood grain. Condition of this exquisite old table is fine with no concerns noted. T's an undershelf for books or a basket for storage. The open construction makes it ideal for use as a nightstand w it can do its duty without looking weighed down and heavy like a traditional nightstand. We estimate age of this fine English treasure at 1920s or so. It's gorgeous, ready for use just as it is.
