This is a 1932 advertising poster for the Southern Pacific- Golden Gate Ferries; specifically for the S.S. City of Sacramento the "largest and fastest ferry on San Francisco Bay. The poster is showing the vessel, with all the passengers, which was 308 feet long and capable of carrying 2000 people. The great photo litho shows just how big it was! This is a rare piece relating to Southern Pacific railway , the rail systems...remember this was BEFORE the Golden Gate and Bay Bridge linking SF to the North, East and South Bay and elsew was t And, it relates to the history of the San Francisco Bay area transit system. This specific poster illustrated the fares and schedules between SF and Vallejo. The piece is famed. It came out of a major RR collection. It measures 23"X 29" framed and the poster is 16" X 22 1/2" Color and graphics are good. Small tear upper top middle...easily repaired but hardly noticeable anyway. Shadows are showing up in the photos.. they are not on the print. Very neat item.
