Greetings, Item up for bid is a 1920's Sovereign Mandolin with the wooden case. I believe that Sovereign was a division of Oscar Schmidt. The mandolin has alot of wear and scratches from alot of play, as pictured, and the pick gaurd is lifting a little on the edge where it meets the neck. One tuner is bent but still works fine. There are no cracks and it is very solid. It has been kept it in a humidity controlled environment at least for recent history. It plays very well and has a nice sweet full sound and seems to stay in tune well. It would make a great player just as it is. I would keep it but I am not a mandolin player and this beauty deserves to be played and apreciated. From what I know about playing guitar the action feels good and intonation seems acurate. The bridge is floating so it can be adjusted. You may want it to be set up the way you want as everyone has thier own preferences. The wooden case looks like it probably is the original and is in great condition with some nicks and wear. I do not have the key. The mandolin is about 24" long, 9" wide, and 2 3/4" deep. It has 20 frets and just over 9" from bridge to last fret. When shipped it will be packaged very, very well and insured.
