This is a 1750-1800 Spanish Colonial, deluxe dagger. It is a elegant fighting weapon with a 8 1/2 inch blade , about 13 inches overall. This is a great, I believe New Mexico made knife. It is a traditional style of borderlands dagger used in the early Southwest. The blade is fitted and riveted into the engraved iron handle with a "weeping hart" on the end, also decorated with 2 pieces of bone. The knife is solid, not lose in anyway. The blade is stiff with some pitting and kick edges as you would expect with a fighting knife. The leather scabbard is old but not quite as old as the knife , but the case has been with the dagger a long time . I'm selling it for a friend who's husband (he passed away a few years ago) colected westerns relics for 50 years If you collect old west knifes then you should have one of these. This is a very nice and honest one . I sell my listings WITHOUT A RESERVE , and NO returns. Study the pictures before bidding, and ask question if you are unclear about anything. We described things as best we can but we are not experts in every field. You may know more about the item then we do. You are the judge as to quality and value. I try to list several new item every other day, so keep check my listings including early western and Mexican pieces...
