Up for auction today is an original cast iron Speaking Dog Bank. This was made by the Shepard Hardware Co. in Buffalo, New York and designed by Peter Adams and Charles Shepard. The bank has been repainted black in the past. To operate the bank, depress the lever on the base near the dog, which causes the girl's right arm to move back, dropping the coin placed on the tray into the seat opening beside her. At the same time, the dog opens its mouth as if barking and wags its tail. The bank works fine, but the bottom door is missing. T is some obvious paint loss, but otherwise, a nice bank. It is 7 1/2" tall x 7" wide and is marked with a patent date of July 14, 1885 and October 20, 1885. on the bottom. This is a relist. I was unaware that the girls left hand is made to pet the dogs head. This is not working t is something inside the bank that is either broken or just out of place. This item will now be sold as is no returns. Don't miss out on this rare bank. As with all auctions this will sell to the highest bidder I do not take offers.SHIPPING & HANDLING We do charge a handling fee to cover the cost of packing, tape and fuel to the Post Office. Please take this in consideration when you are bidding. Use the shipping calculator provided it will give you the shipping cost including handling. Shipping is not negotiable. I also require all to be insured to protect myself and your investment.Due to numerous lost packages I no longer ship overseas. I sell to US and Canadian buyers.
