You are bidding on an antique Staffordshire figurine/ spill vase of a man on a horse (falling off) with dogs chasing along. I was told by another ebay member that the subject of this piece is Mazeppa, from a poem by Byron. The piece measures approximately 7 ½ inches wide by 9 inches tall (to the top of the spill vase). I don't know the age but it is from my grandmother's Staffordshire figurine collection so I know it is old. The front of this piece appears in very good condition. I don't see any cracks and the colors are quite bright and vibrant. T may be a few small chips to the paint in the in a few spots on this piece but I don't know anything about Staffordshire so I'm not sure if these are part of the manufacturing process. The back of the piece has some damage. It looks as if it broke and was glued back together or perhaps, the cracks were glued as a precaution so it wouldn't break. I was told from another e-bay member that the cracks may be firing cracks. I am enclosing a picture of these cracks. Also, t is an old auction label/price tag that is add to the back that could probably be removed with the correct solution. Feel free to email me if you have any specific questions.
