Old Stanley No.28 in poor condition, but it's Pre-Lateral with solid adjusting nut, beaded knob and original Iron.Marked with Eagle Trademark and 28 on toe end, Baileys patent on back Iron & Adjusting wheel & small rounded Stanley Rule & Level on CutterPlenty of old worm on body, Hairline crack on front knob, tip of Horn is missing from rear handle - otherwise good.Only traces of Japanning on metal, Frog is good with Round head screws, tip of adjuster is round and filed.Brass Adjusting wheel is solid, marked 'BAILEYS PATENT AUG.31.1858. AUG.6.1867.'Exposed parts of Cutter and Back Iron are stained and pitted, Cutter has been welded on one side See pic.5.Back Iron has had the adjusting slot welded and still needs attention. Fancy Lever Cap has corners filed off.Just visible on Back Iron is 'L.BAILEYS PATENT DEC.24.1867' in tiny script.Also faintly visible on Cutter is 'STANLEY RULE & LEVEL Co.' also in smallest rounded type.For Restoration or a Collection.
