Up for auction is this beautiful completely refinished curved top Civil War era Trunk This trunk is from circa early 1860's Ornate Jenny Lind 'Style of the day' Solid Brass strapping wrapped around steel strapping! A fine trunk of the era. She is a real beauty and the natural graining wood is a knockout! The old paper covering was removed to expose the beautiful basswood which displays super graining and the natural knots in the wood. underneath. T are 3 beautiful slats on the top' and one in the front. The hardware and metal trim were treated with a rust proof black enamel finish. The lockset has a working key. Locks and unlocks. New thick black leather handles were added. She has a lid stay to hold the lid open securely when lifted. The print of an early Litho' a young lady dressed in possably a CW bugle boys clothing was added. We built a tray for her and she's ready to go!
