USA~ N 87 Measurements: 32.5"l x 21"d x 13.5"h In great working condition with a tray insert that has two compartments. This is truly a lovely example of fine craftsmanship from a by gone era. Large & spacious with a well kept interior, too.Vintage suitcases have nostalgic charm and style. They recall a romantic era where travel was more slow paced. Trains and boats were common modes of transportation and taking a trip to the countryside in an automobile was becoming more popular too. What is a Steamer trunk? A steamer trunk is a type of luggage which takes the shape of a large rugged trunk with a flat top. These trunks were built for long trips, specifically on steam trains and boats; the flat top makes a steamer trunk easier to handle and stack. Many people continue to use steamer trunks for travel and shipping today, and some people also keep a steamer trunk around the house for use as a storage chest. I love antique chests. To me, they represent a much simpler time in this country. It's that emotional connection that makes them so appealing to collectors, and will only increase the value of the piece in time. *There are not many of these trunks left. It's always a treasure hunt when you come across a piece of unique American history, such as this. Top opens and closes easily. A few small blemishes as well as minor surface scratches. The leather handles on either side are very worn. Sold As Is. *I have done my best to describe this piece. It is very old and will contain the usual wear marks of typical everyday use. Minor scratches and nicks apparant, but nothing unsightly or that would affect function. It's my opinion that you will be very happy with this chest. The bottom contains a paint splatter.
