This beautiful steamer trunk is circa 1880's - 1890's, judgingby the original lockplate reading, "Eagle Lock Co Terryville Ct. Pat'dJune 13, 1882 - Dec 6, 1892". It measures 24" tall x 36" long x 22" deep. The 4 rollers on the bottom roll nicely and are perfect.
All original 3 piece hinge construction for the lid, as well as working front latches, lock cover, brass corners, and wood trim are in good original condition. Not a modern nail or screw in it. Lock plate but no lock or key. Under it all the outer shell is covered in a skin of "Artillery Green Painted Duck Cloth/Canvas".
As with most 125 year old trunks, the leather handles are gone. Handle mounts are original and leather can be easily replaced. The leather strapping is mostly missing and leather edges are fair to good condition. "Very Clean". Linseed oil polished only with a wonderful "patina" all the way through. Inside tray intact with cover and removable tray shelf.
One cover is not attached. The tray and inside lid are painted flat light green and it has modern wallpaper inside. Over all, this nice old trunk is in B-plus condition.
