Offered is a rare and beautiful antique sterling silver and guilloche enamel cigarette case. The case is fully hallmarked, from Birmingham England. HM may stand for the maker H. Matthews and the C for the year 1902. This fine, jewelry quality piece has stunning robins egg blue guilloche enameling and the unusual feature of being enameled on both front and back. It is in amazingly good condition for it's age and still even has the original interior elastic strap . The interior appears to have a gold wash and is engraved W.L.C. to D.B. 1927. The case opens with ease and closes tightly. Both hinge and catch work perfectly. T are no visible cracks, splits or repairs. The rectangular case weighs 3.8 oz on a postal scale and measures approximately 3.5" x 2.5". This is a rare and elegant object worthy of your consideration.
