This auction is for an Antique Sterling Silver and Horn Figural Horse Hoof Walking Stick Handle. PLEASE NOTE: This is one of six related auctions that are being listed within a two day period. The auctions include two canes, one cane handle, two parasol handles, and one umbrella handle. The six items were purchased at five different estates. The materials include ivory, sterling silver, bone, and mother of pearl. For US buyers of multiple items within this group of six, we are offering special shipping discounts. The buyer will pay the higher of the shipping charges among the auctions won. Shipping on any additional auctions will be at no additional charge. The horse's foreleg and hoof appear to me to be horn but they could possibly be some other similar animal material that I was not able to identify. The silver band and the horseshoe are not marked but I assume they are sterling and I will guarantee your satisfaction in that regard. As found, t is a small tear at the curved end of the horseshoe and it's tip is folded over as seen. T is also a small 1/16" spot of white paint on the front of the hoof. The silver band securing the handle has a shield with an elaborate three letter monogram. The letters are a bit hard to identify. As found t are some minor dents and marks on the silver, but overall it is in very nice condition and I will guarantee your satisfaction.As found, the cane itself is broken off and only the remaining length including the handle is 27". It is being sold as a cane handle only, in as found condition in that regard. A portion of the wood for about the last two inches is also broken off and held in place by a rubberband. I am not sure what the wood is. It has an applied finish of vertical stripes and heavier horizontal stripes giving it an appearance similar to what I have heard referred to as "tiger oak" when used on furniture.The handle has few minor nicks and scuffs but overall it is in wonderful condition and I will guarantee your satisfaction with its condition. The ball on the handle is about 1" in diameter and the overall length of the handle is about 2 5/8". The head has a nice heavy feel but I cannot tell if it is solid silver or if it is otherwise weighted on the inside.The cane is 35 1/4" in overall length. As found, the tip that I understand was typically brass is missing and the cane is being sold as found in that regard.I am not sure what type of wood the cane is made from. It has a dark finish with a nice patina. It has some minor scuffs, scrapes, and a little wear but overall it is in very good condition.I was not able to find out specifically when or w the cane was made.
