Offered for your consideration is a Sterling Silver Pin Cushion by W.J.M. & Co. It is hallmarked Birmingham 1905. The cushion shows five angels atop a cloud. More clouds arc above them with lines of rain. The hallmark -- anchor for Birmingham, lion passant and "f" for 1905 are clearly shown in the lower righthand corner; the maker's mark appears on the lower left. It's sterling repousse tacked firmly at three sides of the cushion. Original pins are pushed into all four sides. Nine pinheads can be seen, and I think they are either turquoise or turquoise-colored glass. Several pinheads have broken off. I think the material of the cushion, which can be seen on all four sides, is some sort of velvet, but I'm not sure. The material on the back looks like snakeskin. It is dark brown in color, unlike the picture shown The pin cushion measures 2 3/8 inches by 1 15/16 inches. The depth is 3/8 of an inch. Condition is good for its age. T are a few pinpoint dents and irregularities in the silver as would be expected by a pin cushion that has been used. T is one crease in the silver at the upper right. The snake skin is in very good condition with a few tiny areas that are worn, the most evident being in the upper left. Overall this is a beautiful keepsake and would be a wonderful addition to any collection. Overseas shipping and handling will be calculated according to destination. I have added three close up photos. These show the wonderful detail. The color of the snake skin, which is dark brown, can also be seen more clearly.
