2Antique Sterling Silver Child's/Doll's Thimbles English * Hallmarked 1913 & 1915 The larger of these sterling silver thimbles has the English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1915 and the makers mark for James Fenton. It is 5/8" high and it is about the same as an American child's size 2 (11.5 mm diameter opening). It has a faceted rim and a hand engraved band. The condition is excellent and crisp and it looks to be unused. There is a tiny sliver like hole in the band where the hand engraving cut through the surface. The smaller thimble is only 1/2" high with an opening of 9 mm. It has the English sterling hallmarks for Birmingham 1913 and the maker's mark for Wood & Hughes. It's really too small to be for a child and must be a doll's thimble. It's in excellent condition with no wear or other damage. I've shown them with a size 9 adult thimble for size comparison.
