This is an auction for a Rare Victorian or earlier Coin Case with a hinged Finger Ring to keep it secure in your hand. It reminds me of the Finger Ring Dance Card or Purse holder that were popular at formal dances w the woman wished to carry a small purse, fan or dance card and still have her hands free. When I first examined it I thought the hinged Ring was for an insert. It was only after I tried it on that the smooth interior made it obvious that it was a finger ring. The interior and exterior has a Gold Wash and the Engraved Base screws off. The sides are engraved (Chasing done in an 18th Century manner, in fact this may be an 18th century American made and unmarked Silver piece) with the initials "IO". The Sterling mark is the word "STERLING" on the top of the case. I believe that the mark may have been added since the Gold Wash is worn around the word. The Box or Case is 1.1 inches hight and 1 inch in diameter the interior is .89 inches, the screw-off base is 1.1 inches. I placed a quarter in one picture ti indicate size. Shipping $4.50 Priority Mail, Paypal, Check or Money Order accepted.
