TO PREVIOUS WINNERS AND BIDDERS OF THESE RARE PIECES; WE HAVE RECEIVED A TOTAL OF 9 DIFFERENT MILAGROS THAT WE WILL POST THIS WEEK. WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO LOCATE MORE. EACH WILL BE OFFERED FOR AUCTION INDIVIDUALLY. An ex-voto is a Catholic votive offering to a saint or divinity, given in fulfillment of a vow or in gratitude. They are placed in a church or chapel w the worshipper seeks grace or wishes to give thanks; as is the case with this solid silver one below, placed at the feet of a Saint Francis statue in a church in South America. St. Francis is the Catholic Patron Saint of animals, birds and zoos; for years children and adults have left these hand made sterling silver pieces in gratitude of a pet getting well, being found or received as a gift. They are very rare. The antique Ex Voto in the pictures below is one of a collection on consignment for auction from a convent that was going to sell them for the silver value, in order to help with their building program. We will provide the winning bidder with the provenance of each Ex Voto and a thank-you letter from the convent. This Ex Voto has tested positive for sterling quality silver, using acid testing. It weighs 24.2 grams, and it is 3 tall by 2.5 inches wide. Bidders should be aware that we only have one of each, and that similar or like pieces have already been melted
