This is an auction for one Antique Sterling Silver Montana Silver Statue of JUSTICE Souvenir Spoon!!! This spoon is a true collectible beauty~~~with quite a story evidently. The actress Ada Rehan was the model for the huge lifesize Statue of Justice for Montana at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair!!!! We researched the "Justice" Statue on the web and read that Montana had the most beautiful pavilion~~~with the Justice statue made of native Montana Silver and holding the orthodox scales and sword. These two items are seen on this stunning souvenir spoon. This spoon measures approximately 5 1/2" in length and weighs a respectable 24.8 grams on our own little home jewelry scale. This spoon is in excellent condition with no dents, dinks, etc, and could only benefit from the lightest of polishing. The spoon is very well-made and was retailed at the famous jeweler, J.H. Johnston & Co, 17 Union Square, New York City. This mark is partially seen on the back as this has rubbed off over time. We have tried to photograph this for you as best we can. We still seem to have a problem photographing silver, but if additional photos are necessary please let us know. We think that this spoon is a true beauty, rare, since we can't find another one just like it in any of our silver books or our souvenir spoon books or on the web for that matter. Maybe you are familiar with the huge silver statue of Justice? T is also a man in the bowl of the spoon with an axe, maybe a silver miner, we aren't sure. Maybe this spoon would make a nice addition to your World's Fair Souvenir Spoon or Montana collection?
