This is a fantastic auction for a set of Antique STERLING SILVER featuring a Tea Pot, Coffee Pot, and Hot Water Kettle w/Stand! We are cleaning out Grandmother's china closet, and these amazing pieces are now offered for sale now. They are all in the QUEEN ANNE style.......a beautiful classical form and shape with exquisite fluting and wonderful design. Let's start with the hot water pot or kettle with stand: This sterling silver kettle stands approximately 12 1/2" tall when on its stand. Absolutely stunning! The base features the most lovely punched star pattern along the base, how patriotic! The kettle is hallmarked with a Crown, Lion Passant, and the letter M, so dating this piece would be 1904 according to our book on Old Silver by Seymour Wyler as well as Silver & Sheffield Plate Marks by John Bly. T is also a makers mark, a JD & S within an elongated shield, for Jas. Dixon & Sons. The top half of this kettle has these three marks, although the JD & S is slightly worn; however, the bottom half of the kettle has a very clear JD & S in the elongated shield as well aas the lion passant and the date letter M. The inside lid of the hot water pot is marked with the maker's shield as well as a lion passant along with an impressed letter 4, for four cups maybe, the size? The handle is a smooth wood, we think, my husband says it feels like antler. This pot is stunning, as we mentioned, and you can easily remove it from its stand by taking out the small sterling silver "keys" from either side. If you remove the one on the left only, you can tip the pot forward to let out the water without having the kettle tip over, and if you remove the other key, the entire kettle easily comes off its stand. The key to the right is marked with the maker's initials as well as the lion passant. We were unable to weigh this beauty on our own little home jewelry scale due to weight so to get an idea we used our own little postal scale, which says this pot weighs 2 lbs and 6.4 ounces. This pot could use only a light polishing as it is in excellent shape, and it also has a beautiful finial, which appears to be screwed in. T is one minor dink, which measures approximately 2mm, but this does not detract and is just mentioned for completeness sake. The bottom of the pot is marked with the numbers 4639 and below that a 2. T is also a little burner type piece that when you remove the top kettle with the two keys, can be placed neatly in its holder. This little burner thing measures about 2 1/2" in width, and is also marked with the maker's marks (the JD & S) as well as the lion passant on the top, and on the bottom, it is the same with the addition of a crown and then the lion passant. We have to say that the punched stars just make this piece!!!
The next piece is the sterling silver coffee pot. This pot stands about 8 1/2" tall and is about 10" in width from handle to spout. This piece is marked with a crown, lion, and date letter i, making this piece date to 1901-1902. The maker's mark on this pot is a JD & S within a shield for James Deakin & Sons. When you open the lid, the inner lid is marked with the same maker's hallmark as well as a lion passant and on the other end of the lid, the number 3 is impressed, for maybe the size, three cups? Although this pot is a different maker than the hot water kettle, it compliments nicely and is in the same Queen Anne style, very classic, very weighty in your hands. This coffee pot weighs 1 lb. 5.2 ounces on our own little home postal scale (again, too heavy for our jewelry scale). This pot is in excellent condition, with only a need for light polishing. The finial is very similiar to the other hot water kettle, and is also screwed in. Also, t is one minor dink, measuring about 2 mm present, that my daughter spotted, and although this doesn't really detract, should also be mentioned. The bottom has the impressed numbers H2716 and on the inner bottom rim, an impressed number 3. Finally, we have the Queen Anne teapot. this tea pot measures approximatel...
