Batter Jug by Evan B. Jones of Pittstown, PA. Circa 1880 Mint Condition A simple cobalt floral spray suggests a tulip bent in the wind. Decorated batter jugs are Rare no matter what design and this one is in mint condition. It has a wide , heavy spout, bail handle and single lug. Handle at the base opposite the spout. Light gray salt-glazed exterior with albany type brown slip glazed interior and metal cap for spout. It is 1 1/2 gallon size. Height is 10 inches tall, Top is 6 inches and bottom in 6 1/2 inches. This is from my fathers own personal collection. Both my parents have been collecting antiques for over 50 years and stoneware has been t main passion. This is not a reproduction and circa date is accurate.
