This item dates from long before 1947 and thus conforms with all regulations. I bought the head last year from the Sledmere Country House antique fair and had been part of a collection amassed between 1900 and 1920. The owners told me they thought the head had been cut from a full rug some time ago. The head is quite distressed, as can be seen, with fur missing from the ears, brow and raised parts of the nose. Inside the mouth there appears to be a combination of real bone and plaster which is cracked and chipped. There are 2 holes at the top of the mouth where I presume large canines had once sat. By contrast the original amber glass eyes are in stunning condition and have beautiful colour. There is a wooden base to the head with wires stitched through. The head measures 13 inches long, 9 inches wide and 7 inches high when sat on the floor.
