is a Very Early Antique Brass "Surveyor's Transit" in its Wood Box! Made in Boston, U.S.A., by Buff & Buff Mfg. Co. . Patented November 13th 1900. I got this at an Auction years ago, a True Vintage Item that is in Excellent working condition, with all Lenses and Bubble Levels, perfectly Intact! I have never cleaned it, so it has an old Patina, but it could be polished to a shiny like-new condition if you desire. (Please I hope not!) It has the Original large Lens cover, and Lens shade also, I believe the small eye-piece cover is missing. The Box appears to be Original , stating B.K. Elliott Drafting Supplies, Pittsburgh,Detroit,Cleveland, on the top.The Transit is mounted securely to a wooden slide-out base with the Lens shade attached, and is engraved "BUFF NO. 9269" which matches the numbers engraved on the Dial face of the Transit. The Leather carrying strap is broken, the Compass functions Perfectly and so does the Compass Lock. All adjustment screws and Movements work Smoothly. This is truly a Beautifully Crafted Precision Instrument! A Fantastic Antique Display Piece that you will probably never see again! Good luck bidding!
