This is a really super antique sewing box. I believe it is Swedish, but let me know if you can tell differently. It is an oval bentwood box, with pyrography design and hand painted. The box is put together with no nails. The lid has a splint handle which is secured with pegs. The lid has the words DE CAMLA SKALLMAN ARA at the top edge and DE UNCA SKALLMAN LARA at the bottom edge. It is in wonderful used condition, has some wax or paint residue in the bottom. One corner of the lid has the tip broken off. The box has the initials ARE on the back, a painted heart design on the right and a faint wheat stem on the left. Lid measures 11 inches long and almost 4 inches wide. The box measures 8 inches long, almost 4 inches wide, 2 1/2 inches tall, and 4 1/2 inches tall to the top of the wooden catches.
