This auction is for an antique berry picker from Europe.Function/Use: Used to pick small berries such as blueberries and black currants. Structure/Composition: The sides and the handle are made of a light-colored hardwood, which has inter-locking joints. The prongs and basket are made of iron rods. Wear-and-Tear: Well used and stained with berry juices. No major damage; some of the prongs are very slightly bent and lightly rust pitted. Other Notes: These berry pickers (a.k.a. berry scoops) are often erroneously referred to on eBay as Swiss or Swedish berry pickers Approximate Age: 1800s
