You're bidding for an antique civil war era cavalry sword. It measures 38" long with a 32&1/2" long by 1&1/8" wide steel blade that has a defined tip and a unsharpened edge. The blade has a maker mark "MOLE GIRMN" stamped at base. It has a wood sharkskin wrapped handle with three strand wire wrap that is loose do to missing pommel. The grip is worn from age a missing pieces of skin. It has a silver plated knuckle and crossguard. See pictures for identification and condition. I purchased this and many other swords,daggers,knives and bayonets at a retired Marine's estate sale in north PA. He was a avid collector with items from the civil war to WW2 era.
