NICE ANTIQUE TERRY & ANDREWS CLOCK CO., ANSONIA CT OG 30 HR ALARM MANTEL CLOCK WITH BRASS HARP MOVEMENT & "THE HIGHLANDS CHASE" TABLET! Nice estate collection clock...30 hour half OG kitchen or mantel clock with alarm manufactured by Terry & Andrews of Ansonia, CT. Terry & Andrews were the largest clock manufacturers in Bristol CT in 1838...Anson G. Phelps of Phelps, Dodge Co., decided to get into the clock making business and in 1850 joined forces with Terry & Andrews and moved the company to Ansonia. Our clock carries an interior paper label showing it's marketing through Ansonia, while also carrying a brass harp movement with the Terry & Andrews name, of Bristol CT. All of this combined should date the clock to the mid 1800's. The veneer OG case is in good condition with some veneer loss at the lower left (as viewed) corner edge, as well as a bit of veneer looseness on the side edge in the vicinity of the door clasp...both of which we have shown for you in Photo 2. Case door opens and closes well on good brass hinges...stays closed on a good clasp. Original glass tablets top and bottom, with the bottom displaying "The Highlands Chase" with a rider on horseback on a black stallion, and a dog running nearby...great scenic view fine condition for it's age with minor age loss. Colors are still quite vivid...image very clear. Inside, read more
