Antique Terry & Andrews Iron Clock Mantel / Shelf Clock For Repair or Restoration H- 15 1/16 inches W- 8 3/8 inches D- 3 3/4 inchesUp for sale is this C. 1840 Terry and Andrews Iron Clock. The c ast iron case has a black background, and is inset with one of the more elaborate displays of mother of pearl scroll work with gilt surround I have seen in this type of clock. The original zinc dial is professionally refinished and aged with radial Roman numerals on chapter ring with minute ticks in outer ring and dots at each 10 minute mark. The waist of the case has polychrome hand-painted floral designs (with loss over the MOP) with gilt scroll work surround, other areas with vining floral designs and scrolls. The upper case is outlined with a Greek Key motif. The brass hinged bezel has a domed glass and is missing the push button release at left side of case, however it opens and closes appropriately. The stepped-out base has a brass hinged circular door with original clear cover glass to allow viewing of brass pendulum. The winding squares are located just outside of bezel near V & VII. The very large 8 day signed, brass, spring driven lyre shaped movement is original to the case. It strikes the hour on a coiled gong. The case has it's original pine back board.
