Antique Thai Ayutthaya Buddha Head Bronze This Buddha head was purchased in Ayutthaya , Thailand in May 1970 and came from my fatherâe(tm)s estate. He was a world traveler and avid collector of Asian art. An attractive Ayutthaya-style bronze Buddha head from a statue. Very quiet and serene expression with gentle features and closed eyes. Long and elegant earlobes in good proportion to the face. The flame finial is in very good condition and complete; it is slightly thicker at the base than others my father owned. Over time the head became encrusted and developed the verdigris. The front headband has a cross-hatch pattern. The back of the head, toward the top, has a simple pattern that looks a bit like flowing water lines. Also, a bit of dark color on the back due to my fatherâe(tm)s inventory tag. The head was most likely buried at one time as t is residual soil accretion. If you have any questions about this piece, please email me prior to bidding. Serious bidders only. Thank you.
