Greetings! This listing is for one very nice antique Tiemann medical tools kit, which I believe is an amputation kit. The wooden box includes FOURTEEN different tools. The label lists the address of Tiemann as 63 Chatham St., NY, which dates this set to 1855-1864. The pieces include: · Three amputation knives. One is single edged and 10” long, with a very slight hairline crack in the black diamond textured ebony handle, which is still very solid. The 13 ½ inch knife is double edged, and etched with “Tiemann” on the blade. The last one is 14 ½ inches long and is singled edged. The diamond patterned ebony handles on the latter two knives are in very good condition. The 10” and 14 ½” knives are not etched with “Tiemann” but have identical handles. · Two bone saws. One is straight and 8” long and single edged, with some rust on the blade. The other is 6 ½ inches long, shaped like a little hammer, with a little rust on the blade as well. Both of these pieces also have diamond textured black ebony handles. Both are etched with “Tiemann.” · Five small tools, each measuring 6” long. One is an all metal scalpel and file, which is rusted. It is not marked. The other four pieces, three scalpel type tools and one pick, have ivory or bone handles which are in very good condition. All four of them are marked “Tiemann.” · One gault trephine, read more
