Antique Tiffany Studios Leaded Glass Acorn Table Lamp
Item Description: Up for auction is a stunning Tiffany Studios leaded stained glass table lamp designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany himself in what is referred to as the Acorn pattern. This lamp was made around the late 1800s when Tiffany lamps were at their peak. The shade is made of many individual green leaded glass tiles which were formed by combining opalescent glass in a variety of shades and textures to create a new style of stained glass never seen before at that time. They were then artistically arranged and soldered to create the beautiful pattern shown. The metal on the base and shade have a lovely patina from age and it has an orange and green hue from oxidation over time that you like to see from an authentic piece. The base also features the more desirable Art Nouveau form rather than just the straight pole and at the top t is a double bulb socket with the original Perkins switches. The base and shade are both marked Tiffany Studios and can be found on the bottom of the base and inside the bottom lip of the shade. Overall the lamp stands approximately 18" tall and the shade has a diameter of approximately 11 1/2" across the base. The very top of the lamp has a grated finnial which caps the shade and holds it in place. When lit this lamp gives off a wonderful warm green and yellow glow. Item Condition: The overall condition of the lamp is excellent. It is very clean and completely original except for the cord which was replaced at some point to make it more safe. The glass has no chips, cracks, repairs, or breaks, but does show some exterior flaking on a few tiles. The base has no rust or corrosion just a nice patina from age with no damage to the metal. The lamp is in complete working condition with cord, bulb sockets, and switches. The original finnial fits snugly in place, however I do see that the screw which connect to the shade holder has broken off inside. This can either be replace or left as is. It does not affect the lamp in any way. Overall this is a gorgeous piece of history that is rarely seen for sale.
