Click for our great C-46 / Antique Oak & Beveled Glass Desk ~ Glorious old English tiger oak desk/bookcase/secretary. This raving beauty is of solid oak with wonderful grain and magnificent detailing. It stands ready for use on handsome carved feet which support the fetching cabinet above. T's a whole lot of room behind those beveled glass doors and the shelves are adjustable for convenience. Compartment below the desk top gives hideaway space for those ugly must-have reference volumes or other unsightlies. The elegant lines of this beauty are accented with a stylized linenfold carving ~ exquisite ~ and excellent hardware. The desktop is nicely pigeonholed and roomy, giving plenty of space to spread out and organize the accounts of the home. Or start a novel. Or simply dream of spring with coffee in hand and garden journal at the ready. We've found our five desks to indispensable to the functioning of our little home: MissLynette's got two ~ one for computer work, one for writing and accounts and such; MrMissLynette has his own desk overlooking the back garden w he keeps his manly things, records and such. T's a tall bookcase-over-desk beauty used in the living room as an end table ~ striking ~ and a graceful lady's desk serving as nightstand in the guest room. No matter how technologically advanced our society (or our lives, alas) become, we will never abandon the comfort of the desk. A good desk reminds us to slow down, to pay attention, to spend time in quiet reflection. A desk can be a retreat, a life-planning center, a respite from the too fast rush of days. This particular desk is unusually heavy ~ thus the higher-than-we-like freight rate.
