Here for auction is a genuine antique tiger skin rug mounted by the famous firm of taxidermists Van Ingen of Mysore. Measuring just over 3m, the tiger is in good original condition although not pristine. It has been in my family for many years and has been dry-stored for about the last 40 and its time to go to a good home who will appreciate its true value, this really is one not to be missed. It comes complete with felt mount and genuine Van Ingen label on the revers, as pictured. It has a few claws missing an a chip to one of the lower teeth, none of which is particularly noticeable, also there is some small tears but again nothing major, I have tried to picture them as well as I can. None of these flaws detract from the quality or overall appearance of the rug, it is as you would expect to find an antique of its nature and age. Van Ingen & Van Ingen , Van Ingen , Van Ingen of Mysore (1900–1998) were Indian taxidermists located in Mysore, South India , best known for their tiger and leopard taxidermy mounts now scattered throughout the world in the form of head mounts, full mounts, flat animal rugs , and rug mounts with heads attached. The Van Ingens served the highest of international nobility as well as the maharajas of India, preserving their 'Shikar'hunting trophies in the most lifelike poses and in the utmost beauty, uncomparable to any other taxidermists in the world. I have stated collection in person but would be willing to arrange for a courier to deliver, this can be arranged with the winning bidder if required.Ebay - please note this dates from circa 1930's and is therefore perfectly legal to sell. "THE CONVENTION ON INTERNATIONAL TRADE IN ENDANGERED SPECIES OF WILD FAUNA AND FLORA (CITES) EC REGULATIONS 338/97 & 865/2006 You do not need a certificate under Article 10 of the Regulations to sell Annex A worked specimens acquired before 1947. Specimens are defined as worked for CITES purposes if the specimen was made before 1 June 1947, and no further working has been carried out on it since that date. Specimens originally obtained before this date, but which are not substantially altered from their natural state do not qualify for these exemptions.
