This old kerosene jar was purchased at the estate sale of the owner of the now closed Tropico Gold Mine of Rosamond, CA. It was part of the museum collection. On the tin surrounding the jar it says "EXCELSIOR". It has a wooden handle that still has some black paint on it. The tin top has lost it's screw-on cap, and has been repaired (see photo). The glass is clear, and is very unusual. It has many lines, almost a honeycomb effect, going through it, along with bubbles. The glass is wavy, and has no makers marks on it. I tried to photograph it. It has rust on it from the holder, and I have not cleaned it. The cap unscrews easily. The museum paper slip in the bottom reads "KEROSINE JAR IN TIN CONTAINER WITH TIN LID SPOUT- IDAHO". Measures 13" tall including spout, and 6 1/4" diameter.
