I love this little tin pail with the lid and the bail handle. Some folks call it a berry bucket and some call it a lunch bucket or pail....I think it was probably used for both things. This one is all tin with a nicely-fitting lid and a easy-to-move handle. T is some rust on the bottom, inside and out, but t are no holes. The bottom rolled rim has a small dent in it...probably dropped at some point...and a very slight dent at the bottom of the side.
The lid goes on and comes off easily but fits snugly to protect the wax-paper-wrapped sandwich and large slab of fruit pie that would have been customary to carry for lunch in those long ago days. Kids carried these to school when they lived too far away to go home for lunch and working men carried them into mines and factories. Maybe some housewives used them to carry berries home from the sweetest blackberry patch to make the pie that went into this pail on Monday morning!!
Measures 4 inches tall and 6 inches across the bottom.
