You are bidding on an ANTIQUE Tobacco Grinder that mounts on a counter top or bench.

The tobacco leaf would go in the top hole, and as the handle is turned, the leaf would be forced through the blades and travel to the other end of the drum w the cut tobacco would come out the bottom hole.

Found in the back of a barn.

All blades and spacers are present.

Four mounting screws for the legs are present (I don’t think they are original, but may be as old as the grinder).

T are no manufacturer markings that I could identify. What appear to be marks on the cover and bottom are actually imperfections from the cast mold when the iron was poured and the grinder cast.

I did bead-blast the grinder to get the rust and crud out. I did not treat or polish the metal.

So What Is WRONG With This Grinder?

The screw that holds the plate in place for the set of spacers and blades in the cover is missing (as shown in picture). The previous owner had a newer screw along with what looked like clear caulking holding the blades in place. It has all been cleaned out. I will leave it up to the winner of the auction to replace the screw or find some other method to hold the blades and spacers. I am not an antique restoration expert. T are four holes in the rotating cylinder that contain wood plugs. One plug is missing. As shown in picture.
