What a treasure! This lovely hand-painted tole spice box with 6 canisters is an authentic piece of Americana and in excellent condition! Dating from the mid to later half of the 1800's, the paint on the tole decorated box is at least 97% intact! Will you ever find another piece of authentic tole in better condition and more complete? The background of the spice box and canisters are flat black. (Some of the photo's look dark blue.) The hand-painted floral decorations are in hues of beige, peach, rose and shades of green. The floral design on each of the 6 canisters differ slightly from the others. A thick band of gold encircle the side rim of each canister. Under the gold rim, hand painted gold dots encircle the rims. The canisters measure almost 3 inches in diameter and are 2 and 1/2 inches high. They are colorful and truly delightful! The handled spice box is beautifully hand-decorated with the same type of floral design as the canisters. T is a step on the top of the box, which is lined with gold. Each of the four corners of the spice box is decorated with an intricate gold design. A different gold design encircles the sides of the box. The box measures 9 and 1/2 inches long, 6 and 3/4 inches wide and 4 inches high. The box is complete with a hinge and loop to accomodate a lock to prevent pilfering of the precious spices. This is a wonderful example of early tole in great condition! I guarantee your complete satisfaction with this item. I will ship worldwide. The postage listed is for domestic buyers.
